Stacia Leech – Executive Director

I have been the coordinator and executive director of the Roberts Creek Community School Society for eighteen years. During this time I have had the privilege of working with an exceptional group of people and together we have faced the challenge of working collaboratively to create real systematic change in our community. For the past eleven years I have been shepherding resources from Health Canada’s Drug Strategy, Community Initiatives Fund toward capacity building in School District 46 and the Sunshine Coast community in the domains of Social Emotional Learning and Mindfulness Education.

Sheila Wilson – Assistant Coordinator & Roots of Empathy Coordinator

Sheila comes to the community school following many joyful years of homeschooling her son and serving as a community organizer. In her previous Californian incarnation, Sheila was a dedicated bilingual elementary teacher and if you go back even further, there are rumours of a commerce degree.

As both a community advocate and a credentialed teacher, Sheila acts as a vital link between the classroom and the community. She thoroughly enjoys coordinating and instructing Roots of Empathy here on the Sunshine Coast. When not in the office, search her out running and riding local trails or harvesting kale in her backyard garden.

Tonya Ste. Marie – Nights Alive Coordinator

Tonya Ste Marie's career working with children and youth began as a peer tutor in high school. Over the past decade, this dedication and passion has evolved through her work with recreational, social and educational programs including Sunshine Coast Youth Outreach, community schools, and various camps. She is an advocate for at risk youth and the homeless. An avid sailor and adventurer, when Tonya is not working with children and youth, she can be found enjoying the beauty of the west coast, from the mountains to the ocean and everything in between.

Ron Skene – MindUp Trainer and Facilitator

Ron has worked in the field of youth leadership development and training for over thirty years. As a certified MindUp Trainer/Facilitator, he is part of a team creating social emotional learning opportunities for students, teachers and parents. Mindfulness practice has been part of his life since 1978.
